Rector's Welcome

Welcome to the website of the Church of the Redeemer in Morristown, New Jersey. We hope that after you learn more about us, you will visit us at worship. Our Sunday services are at 8:00 am and 10:30 am (9:30 am in the summer).

The Church of the Redeemer, an Episcopal parish in the Diocese of Newark, was founded in 1852 by a group of people who were originally members of St. Peter's Morristown. From its beginning and in every age this parish has tried to name the movement of God in its midst. At various times, this was found in the support of Alcoholics Anonymous, the ordination of women, the promotion of civil rights, and the care of people living with AIDS. Today we are intentional about living into the fullness of what it means to be an inclusive community. We are committed to the liberating power of God within our own lives and throughout the entire world. We are committed to being an inclusive family who understands that what unites us is infinitely stronger than what divides us.

I invite you to take a closer look at the life of Redeemer, as reflected on this website. As a Christian Liberation Community in the Episcopal tradition, we are attempting the creation of a contemporary model of what it means to be a community of faith. Our intent is to be clear about our identity and our commitments.

The Redeemer family looks forward to welcoming you, should you be able to visit at some future point.

Peace,

The Rev. Phillip Dana Wilson
Rector
