A New Way of Thinking About Stewardship
Fall is typically the time we think of renewing our ministry commitments to our church and community, so a group of your fellow Redeemer members have been meeting to re-think stewardship, what it means and can mean at Redeemer. In the spirit of thinking in a “new way” this group has renamed Stewardship the “Spirit Alive Movement.” Spirit breathes new life and sustains life through the creativity and passion of individuals throughout the year, not just during Stewardship Season, and that is the invitation being extended to everyone.
During the month of October we are inviting everyone to consider the gifts you might share with our faith community and the greater community outside of Redeemer, now or at any time during the year. This Sunday there will be a poster of “Helping Hands” in the back of the church naming our current ministries and inviting you to suggest new ministries.
October has been designated as Ministry “Buddy” Month. If you have ever given a thought to joining a ministry but were concerned about your ability, your shyness, or the level of commitment, we invite you to have some good old fashion “Buddy” fun and try on a ministry or two (or more!) with a current ministry member to see what it is all about—consider it a “test drive” without commitment to join! We will be providing ministry contacts to guide you on your exploration.
We also want you to consider that a ministry commitment can be as small or big, short or long as you need it to be, based on your own personal ministries of caring and providing for other commitments and people in your life.
Ministry—what spirit does it stir in you? What gifts of talent will you consider sharing?
Please know your gifts, great and small are appreciated and we invite you to continue to share them in whatever way moves you. We invite you to join the SPIRIT ALIVE MOVEMENT!
In gratitude,
Doris Dicristina–Spirit Alive Movement Chairperson
