“Technically,” the Episcopal Church doesn’t condone same-sex marriage, the Rev. Cynthia Black said.
She corrected herself. Not “technically.” That wasn’t quite the right word.
“Canonically, by Canon law, we are required to follow the rules of the church,” Black, who serves at Christ the Redeemer in Morristown, said. “And we can not act independently of those rules. But there is, I think it’s safe to say, there’s some small amount of discretion.”
