One man set his boots on a radiator to dry, others charged their cell phones and still others browsed through bags of donated coats for adults and children as they waited for lunch to be served Wednesday at Church of the Redeemer’s Community Soup Kitchen.
A drizzle was falling and thick inches of snow made it hard to navigate but despite the latest storm, Soup Kitchen staffers and volunteers made it in by 9 a.m. to start preparing a sumptuous meal of chicken parmesan, baked ziti, soup, salad and fresh bread.

Pretty soon, visitors to Morristown’s Episcopal Church of the Redeemer may be recharging their cars along with their souls.
A free charging station for electric vehicles–believed to be the first in town–is coming to the church driveway within a few weeks, said the Rev. Cynthia Black, the church’s rector.

On Sunday the Church of the Redeemer will celebrate and bless the marriage of four couples from the congregation that are all gay or lesbian. Another gay couple will have their civil marriage blessed and many, both gay and straight, will renew their vows. In addition, there will be a prayer for members who were in long-term relationships, whose spouses have died.
“This will be an opportunity for us to celebrate, not only with our gay and lesbian couples, but with all the members of the Redeemer community, the hundreds and hundreds of years of commitment that our members have made to their spouses,” said the Rev. Cynthia L. Black, rector of Redeemer.
